Sunday Morning Musings #1 - Building Nuke The World & Hunting Records

Nuke The World | London's newest music memorabilia boutique...
Happy Sunday to all,
I'm sat in my robe, eating a bowl of natural greek yoghurt, raspberries and blueberries, slathered in manuka honey and topped with a special granola mix my girlfriend has made. It feels an appropriate time to check in and provide some back story to how Nuke The World is put together.
Happy 2026.
We're now beyond the stage of Happy New Year, people have already given up their commitments to going sober, hitting the gym and spending less money on records... Now, the reality of the cold January has hit and people have already given up all hope that progress is on their 2026 bingo card. I am here for you, the shoulder for you to cry in to...
As my first official month of 'unemployment' continues and I desperately search the front pockets of all my jeans for any cash, I continue to learn new things about how to push this entire platform further into the spotlight.
Putting a website together wasn't too difficult, a lot of late nights, an OpenAI Max subscription and a relative amount of patience is all you need. - I will be honest, without ChatGPT I'd still be selling everything through Instagram stories. People might say it's taking everyone's jobs, but I see it as a way to actually see my vision come to life through my own hands and not breaking my wallet for a version that reeks of someone else's style.
I have worked on improving visibility, I have joked with friends that I am asking Google to validate me more than my girlfriend does... (to be honest, she's been a great support but it's always an easy joke).
For my sins, I am now actively putting out TikTok videos, a simple format; voice overs, playing on top of a record out of 'the vault'. I've averaged 700-1000 views on each video, except for one specific Roots Manuva record which has only received 10. Go figure?
Sales? I've made 2 through the site. One from my friend and one I re-routed through Vinted for a better discount. I've sold a bunch on Discogs, but the fee they take is crippling - sometimes, 30% is being carved up beteween Discogs and Paypal. Gross.
I purchased my second collection just before Christmas, an amazing selection of House, Trance, Drum & Bass, Garage and Techno from a retired 90's/00's DJ. I have had success inviting London DJ's round for Tea and to go through the collection, if any locals would also like this treatment - drop me a line.
Today I'm cropping 100+ photos, uploading them, copying the URL, updating it to a spreadsheet, then importing that spreadsheet, inevitably going back and fixing all my mistakes, then posting on socials that there is plenty of new stock on the website. I hope and pray tomorrow there is some more money in my bank account.
Am I stressed out, yeah for sure. Am I unhappy? Not in the slightest, in fact I'm probably more content and free than I've ever been whilst buried under the weight of impending financial doom.
For those who are not opening their eyes enough, I am active on social media under the handle @NTWSOCIAL. I'm also eager to talk to other record shops, dealers, suppliers and anyone who has a question about what NTW is up to - you can get at me straight up through info@nuketheworld.co.uk
